You don’t have to journey alone

About me

When we meet, you’ll discover a few things about me: I'm down-to-earth and relatable. I'm not afraid to work hard with you. I'm warm, kind and calming. I’m only a moment away from a good laugh and finding humour in the darkness of life.

So, why work with me?

I specialize in two main areas.  First, I work extensively with individuals, couples and families using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).  This is an evidence-based model and first-line treatment for addressing relationship and attachment related issues.  When you feel discouraged and disoriented in your relationships it often comes as a deep relief to know that your therapist has a road map and a plan for your healing.

Second, I love to work with pastors, clergy and church leaders. I’ve noticed a profound need for treatment and support for church leaders.  People involved in church ministry are often isolated from their communities as a result of their position, and I’ve developed insights into the unique struggles they face and enjoy working through those issues.  You can prevent burnout, and re-learn to like the people you serve.

Like you, I’m more than my career, and I have many interests that keep me busy outside of therapy.  I’m a husband and dad to four kiddos.  I produce maple syrup.  I love to run.  I love to read, play the piano, and—believe it or not—I’m a small engine mechanic by trade.

I’m Shawn

According to my title, I’m a registered psychotherapist, which means that I specialize in treating mental health and relationship issues for individuals, couples, families. And I have a special interest in supporting church leaders with the unique challenges they face.

I’d love to journey with you when you’re dealing with challenges are too big to handle on your own, like: relationship issues, family or church family conflict, anxiety and panic, trauma, stress and burnout, church hurt, low self-worth, guilt and shame, life and family transitions, and pornography addictions.
